Happy 47th Independence Anniversary Celebrations!

Hon. Choylin

On this memorable and proud occasion, of our 47th Independence Anniversary, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism extends its heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all citizens across our beloved nation, and to our friends and partners around the world who continue to walk with us in solidarity.

Today, we celebrate not only our political freedom but also the enduring strength of our people—the heartbeat of our islands. Since gaining independence in 1978, we have made significant strides, guided by the resilience, spirit, and rich cultural heritage that define who we are as a nation.

This year’s theme, “Unity and Stability for Transformation and Prosperity”, is both a timely reminder and a powerful call to action. In a world facing constant change and challenges, our progress as a nation rests on our ability to remain united in purpose, stable in our governance, and committed to the transformation needed to ensure a prosperous future for all Solomon Islanders.

Culture and tourism are vital pillars of our identity and our economy. As custodians of our diverse traditions, the Ministry remains steadfast in its mission to protect and promote our cultural values, while unlocking the vast potential of our tourism sector to create jobs, empower communities, and share our story with the world.

Let this anniversary inspire us to deepen our unity, uphold peace, and work together across all sectors of society. Transformation and prosperity are within our reach—but only if we move forward together, anchored in mutual respect, shared responsibility, and a clear vision for our future.

On this joyous day, let us celebrate with pride, honour our past, and embrace the promise of the years ahead.

Tagio tumas and may God bless our people and our nation.

Happy 47th Independence Celebrations! God bless Solomon Islands from Shore to Shore!
