The disruption is due to an ongoing land dispute, which is preventing Our Telekom technicians from gaining safe access to critical network infrastructure requiring urgent maintenance. These network sites are essential for delivering mobile coverage to communities across the affected region.
As the largest mobile operator in the Solomon Islands, Our Telekom remains committed to providing reliable mobile connectivity to ensure that families, businesses, and essential services can function without interruption. However, the company notes that when landowners restrict access, it can cause prolonged service disruptions, impacting thousands of people and key services that depend on consistent mobile coverage.
Our Telekom has assured the public that its technical teams are on standby and ready to restore service as soon as safe access to Bethel, the central site linking all affected areas, can be secured.
