Solomon Water has officially received the upgraded White River Reservoir site, marking the completion of fencing and civil works to better protect one of Honiara’s key water storage facilities.
With a combined capacity of up to 1 megalitre, the White River Reservoirs now feature perimeter fencing to reduce risks of vandalism, theft, and contamination. Upgrades also included a retaining wall for slope stabilization, improved road access, and enhanced site accessibility.

Funded by Australia and delivered by Hatanga Ltd through an open tender process, the project also created 18 local jobs, 70% from the Tasahe/White River community, including four recent SINU graduates.

Australian High Commissioner Rod Hilton reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to working with local contractors to improve water and sanitation in the Solomon Islands, while Hatanga’s project team highlighted the direct community benefits of the work.
This initiative is part of broader upgrades at West Kolaridge and Lengakiki Reservoirs, reflecting Solomon Water’s commitment to resilient infrastructure and its vision of “Safe water for a healthy nation.”
