The Honourable Minister of Police, National Security and Correctional Service, Hon. Jimson Tanangada, has commended the Commissioner of Correctional Service, Mr. Mactus Forau, the CSSI leadership, and the entire Training Academy team for their outstanding achievement in securing registration and accreditation as a recognised tertiary provider.
“Congratulations. You have worked hard, stayed committed, and kept your focus on the goal. This milestone is the result of your perseverance and your belief in the potential of CSSI to meet international standards while responding to our national needs,” says Hon. Tanangada.
The Minister noted that the accredited training programmes will not only enhance the capabilities of CSSI officers but will also uplift the overall standards of service delivery, safety, rehabilitation, and correctional management across the country’s facilities.

“This will directly contribute to better outcomes for our people, safer communities, and a stronger security sector overall,” he said.
In his keynote address, Hon. Tanangada told the men and women of CSSI that the achievement belongs to them.
“It sets the foundation for your future development. It affirms that your career pathway is not only vital to national security, but now also recognised and certified within the national education and skills framework,” he said.

The Minister urged CSSI to take pride in the achievement and to use it as a launching pad for further progress, with a vision toward a full Correctional Training Academy that will not only serve national needs but, one day, the regional needs as well.
Hon. Tanangada reiterated the Ministry’s full support for the continued development of CSSI, reaffirming its commitment to champion the advancement of correctional officers and their role in upholding law and order, as well as human dignity, in society.
He also acknowledged and thanked all partners, stakeholders, and officials whose contributions made this milestone possible.
“Congratulations, and may we continue to build a professional, respected, and transformative correctional service for the people of the Solomon Islands,” the Minister concluded.
