The Member of Parliament for Central Honiara, Gordon Darcy Lilo, through his constituency office, has donated $20,000 to the South Sea Evangelical Church (SSEC) to support the hosting of the National Mission Summit this week.
The cheque was formally handed over today by Constituency Development Officer (CDO) Rexford Paul to SSEC leaders in Honiara.
The contribution follows a request from SSEC for assistance in staging the National Mission Summit, which runs from 17th to 22nd August. The summit will bring together around 500 church leaders from the six SSEC regions across Solomon Islands to discuss issues relating to mission and evangelism.

In a statement, the Central Honiara Constituency said it recognized the importance of supporting churches in the community.
โThis program will definitely help our churches to spread the gospel in our beloved country, Solomon Islands,โ the statement read.
During the handover, CDO Paul encouraged unity and partnership within the community.
โLetโs all work together supporting each other and the community in our country, Solomon Islands,โ he said.
Receiving the cheque, SSEC General Secretary Thomas Justus Weape expressed gratitude on behalf of the church and its organizing committee.
โWe convey our heartfelt thanks and profound appreciation for this generous assistance towards the program,โ he said.
