Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Jasper Highwood Anisi emphasized that, electoral reform is important to the SIEC Strategic function and agenda and targeting 2026 as the completion date in preparation towards the 2028 National Joint Election.
The outcomes underscore the importance of strengthening democratic processes and ensuring that electoral administration is responsive, inclusive, and aligned with international best practices” Mr. Anisi Said.
Mr. Anisi expressed that, electoral reform remains at the core of SIEC’s mandate to continuously improve the integrity, transparency, and efficiency of electoral processes in the Solomon Islands and has over the years identified key areas requiring reform to ensure that elections remain fair, credible, and reflective of the will of the people”, he adds.

“Among these key reform areas, scheduled were review and refinement to core electoral laws to enhance transparency, streamline election administration, and align electoral procedures with international best practices”, Mr. Anisi said.
“Electoral reform does not only streamline election administration, but it ensures timely roll-out of voter awareness campaigns and development of procedural training manuals for polling officials and voter education initiatives, ensuring citizens are better informed and confident in the electoral process” , Mr Anisi adds.
Electoral legal reform is not only a technical necessity but a cornerstone of public trust and remain a priority.
