Honiara, Solomon Islands – 5 September 2025 –
The Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) proudly represented the Solomon Islands private sector at the International Labour Organization (ILO) Regional Tripartite Conference held in Suva, Fiji, from 1–4 September 2025.
The four-day conference, convened in partnership with the Fiji Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, carried the theme “Designing for Disruption – Conference on Decent Work, Climate Change and Human Security”. It marked 50 years of ILO’s presence in the Pacific and brought together governments, employers, workers, and development partners to discuss shared challenges around employment, resilience, and social justice in the face of climate change.

SICCI CEO Mr. James Dolarii said: “SICCI was honoured to contribute the voice of Solomon Islands businesses to this important regional platform. Compliance with international labour, environmental, and safety standards is not just about meeting obligations — it strengthens competitiveness, investor confidence, and sustainable growth for Solomon Islands businesses.”
As part of the conference, the Solomon Islands delegation also hosted a country dialogue with the ILO, engaging on labour laws, regulations, standards, and compliance. Mr. Roy Fugui, represent the Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Labour and Immigration, Mr. Tony Kangovai represent the Workers, and Mr. James Dolarii CEO of SICCI represent the Employers (SICCI).
This dialogue allowed the three tripartite partners to highlight critical areas for improvement in national labour frameworks and reinforced the importance of collaboration in upholding international standards.
SICCI emphasised that the private sector remains committed to building a resilient, inclusive, and compliant business environment that contributes to both national development and the wider Pacific region.
SICCI extends its sincere appreciation to the ILO and the Government of Fiji for hosting a successful and meaningful event, and for providing a platform that amplifies the private sector’s role in shaping a stronger and more resilient Pacific.
