Auki, Malaita Province — A major safety upgrade has been completed on the cliff side section of Solomon Power Road leading to Dukwasi as part of the China-Aid Auki Road Project. The stretch had long been considered hazardous due to landslides and soil erosion, posing risks to both motorists and pedestrians.

After more than three months of work, a newly constructed retaining wall now protects the road from natural pressures. The project was carried out by Chinese staff from China Civil Engineering Construction Cooperation (CCECC) in collaboration with local Solomon Island workers, using nearly a thousand cubic meters of concrete to ensure durability and stability.

The completion of the wall not only enhances road safety and accessibility but also provided employment and skill-building opportunities for local residents. The upgrade has been welcomed by the community, who now have a safer and more reliable route for daily travel.
