Honiara, Solomon Islands — The Ministry of Communication and Aviation (MCA) has confirmed significant progress on the construction of the new Rescue Fire Service Station at Honiara International Airport, a key component of the Solomon Islands Roads and Aviation Project (SIRAP2).
According to MCA, 90 percent of construction materials are now on site, with overall physical completion reaching 53 percent. Rectification works are currently underway following a minor foundation delay, and the superstructure phase is expected to begin later this month.

Permanent Secretary of MCA, Alwyn Danitofea, emphasized the importance of the facility, noting that it will play a vital role in aviation safety and emergency response for all air travelers.
The Rescue Fire Service Station project forms part of SIRAP2, which is upgrading roads, bridges, airports, and air navigation systems across the country to enhance safety, connectivity, and economic growth.
