On Wednesday, 3 December 2025, Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele MP received a final courtesy visit from the outgoing Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Mr. Rod Hilton.

During the visit, Prime Minister Manele thanked H.E. Hilton for his dedicated service and for strengthening the longstanding partnership between Solomon Islands and Australia. He highlighted the robust cooperation between the two countries across sectors such as maritime security, agriculture, education, national and border security, trade, sports, and broader national development.

โ€œWe may have different views at times, but as family, we dialogue and move forward together,โ€ the Prime Minister said, expressing personal appreciation for H.E. Hiltonโ€™s commitment, energy, and goodwill over his three-year tenure.

Later in the evening, PM Manele joined invited government MPs, dignitaries, and guests at H.E. Hiltonโ€™s farewell dinner at his residence in Ngossi. H.E. Hilton left the country today (Friday, 5 December 2025), after a tenure marked by significant achievements, including developments in the Royal Solomon Islands Police Academy, Naha Birthing Centre, undersea cable projects, and agriculture programs.

The Government of Solomon Islands looks forward to welcoming the new Australian High Commissioner early next year and to continuing the strong partnership between the two countries.
