The Solomon Islands National University (SINU) is pleased to announce the appointment of its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Transform Aqorau, as an Adjunct (Honorary) Professor at the T.C. Beirne School of Law, The University of Queensland (UQ).
Effective 1 January 2026 โ€“ 31 December 2028, this appointment recognises Professor Aqorauโ€™s distinguished academic leadership, contributions to law, governance, and regional policy engagement, particularly in the Pacific.

The appointment further strengthens the academic partnership between SINU and UQ, opening opportunities for collaboration in teaching, research, mentorship, and institutional capacity building.
Professor Aqorau said, โ€œI am deeply honoured by the appointment as an Honorary Professor at The University of Queensland.

This strengthens the academic bridge between SINU and a world-class university, reinforcing our shared commitment to excellence in teaching, research, policy engagement, and regional impact, particularly for the Pacific.โ€

He added, โ€œThe timing of this appointment is a wonderful gift for SINU. It encourages our staff and students and opens further opportunities for collaboration, joint research, mentorship, and capacity building between our institutions.

I look forward to working closely with UQ Law to translate this relationship into tangible outcomes for both our universities and the region.โ€

The University of Queensland notes that honorary and adjunct appointments are central to building strong connections with leaders in academia and professional practice and advancing shared research and educational goals.

Professor Aqorau continues to serve as Vice-Chancellor of SINU while contributing to regional and international academic networks. He also holds an Honorary Doctorate cum laude from the College of Law at the Australian National University (ANU).
