Today marks the start of the first full working week of 2026, as public servants across the Solomon Islands officially resume duty after the festive season.
In a message shared by the Prime Minister’s Office, appreciation was extended to essential service workers and private sector employees who continued working throughout the holidays, acknowledging their discipline, commitment, and role in keeping the country running while others observed the festive break.

Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele was in the office this morning, joining thousands of Solomon Islanders returning to work nationwide.
The Prime Minister’s Office noted that national progress does not happen overnight nor is it achieved by government alone. While government continues to provide essential services, meaningful development depends on how individuals contribute through their work, community involvement, and care for shared spaces and infrastructure.
As the country moves forward into 2026, Solomon Islanders were encouraged to approach the year ahead with unity, responsibility, and a shared determination to work together for the benefit of families and the nation.
