CAASI: All Drones in SI need to be Registered and Certified.

Drones have become an incredibly useful tool for many people in the Solomon Islands in the past several years, offering diverse applications from aerial photography and agricultural monitoring to land surveying.

Their ability to reach inaccessible areas and provide real-time data makes them invaluable across various industries. However, to ensure safety and accountability, drones must be registered as required by the Civil Aviation Authority of Solomon Islands (CAASI). Urging all drone owners to register their equipment in compliance with the law.

In the opening of the National Aviation Symposium this week, the Chairman of CAASI and the Attorney General appealed to drone owners around the country.

AG Muria explained that CASSI as the regulator wants all drones to be registered and certified.

This is important because unregistered drones can pose significant risks, including collisions with aircraft, privacy violations, and interference with emergency operations. Without registration, it’s challenging to trace the owners of drones involved in incidents, leading to potential legal and security issues.

Proper registration helps maintain order in the skies and ensures that drones are used responsibly and safely.
