Auki police have arrested a 43-year-old husband who tied his wife to a wooden chair and beat her at Oneoneabu village in Central Kwarae, Malaita Province recently.
The husband also used threatening words and promised to kill her while their four-year-old son was watching.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa said, “The case was reported to Auki police on domestic violence and police are investigating the matter.”
He confirmed that the suspect was arrested and charged with domestic violence contrary to section 58 (1) under the FPA Act and he has appeared before the Auki Magistrate Court.
Tafoa said, “This is a serious matter and police will not tolerate such behavior and act toward women in our communities.”
“Spouses, especially men, must refrain from carrying out such behavior towards their wives. Our homes should be a peaceful place for our children,” he said.
