Indonesia Community in the Solomon Islands Celebrates 79th Independence Day.
The Indonesian Community in the Solomon Islands on Sunday 25th August 2024 marked Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day at SMI Compound.
The Event was hosted by Indonesia’s First Honorary Consular to the Solomon Islands, Mr. Rolland Piko, and his wife Madam Ruth, together with staff – Mr. Agus Suprianto and Mrs. Asmarani – of the Indonesia Consulate Office in Honiara.
The independence celebration theme for this year 2024 is “Nusantara Baru, Indonesia Maju” meaning “New Archipelago, Advancing Indonesia”.
The program was officiated by Rising of Indonesia Flag and Singing of Indonesia National Anthe.
The official Speaker during this event is the Indonesia Defence Attache to the Indonesia Embassy in Papua New Guinea, Mr. Peter Dwi Ardianto.
Mr. Dwi relays on behalf of the Indonesia Ambassador to Papua New Guinea, His Excellency Mr. Andriana Supandy – who could not make it to the event – his apology and uttermost appreciation to the Government Dignitaries, and Diplomatic Mission Officials who were present during the event.
He further relays the importance of building a good relationship with Indonesia’s Development Partners on matters of common interest. Such can promote each state’s interest with a common understanding in advancing development agendas together.
It is also during his official visit that Mr. Dwi will meet the Minister of Police for the Solomon Islands on the Indonesia Naval War Ship Visit in October in the Solomon Islands.
The program was also officiated by the Rising of Indonesia Flag, and the Singing of Indonesia’s National Anthem. After the Lunch was served, the program then proceeds with Blood donations from Indonesians and Solomon Islanders to support the Blood Bank Unit within the National Referral Hospitals.
The main Highlight of the Program was the games. Games played during this event were Tug of War, Bag Hope, Ballon Walk, and others.
The program ended with the giving of price to the winners by Indonesia Consulate’s officials here in the Solomon Islands and the Embassy Office in Papua New Guinea.
