Lata Solar Farm Groundworks Underway
The groundworks for the Lata Solar Farm are well under way. Solomon Power is building a Solar Farm at its station in Lata that will enable the Lata township to benefit from power that will be generated.
Currently, work on backfilling the grounds where the Solar Farm is to be built is near completion and it is being done by Kiodirlir Construction. The Board of Directors and Management also visited the site during their recent trip to formally open the new Lata Office.
“All major equipment for the construction of the Solar Farm are already on site and awaiting installation and commissioning”, said Fisher Beromana the Manager Constructions, Capital Work. Guadalcanal Electric is the contractor that will carry out the construction of the Solar farm which is expected to be completed by next year.
This Solar Farm is one of the ways Solomon Power is trying to invest in more environmentally friendly ways to generate power, another step towards going green.
Solomon Power is happy to be able to construct a Solar farm in Lata so that the communities in and around Lata can benefit from it. Lata is one of five existing stations that will have Solar Farms to assist in their generation capacity. The other four Stations are Malu’u, Munda, Kirakira and Tulagi.
Solomon Power is making strides in trying to make electricity accessible, cleaner and safer for all of Solomon Islands.
