New Buala Market Taking Shape

The new Buala Market, Isabel Province is underway!

Designed and built by the people using it – with space for 150 vendors, including  accessible stalls, and separate toilets and showers for men, women and people with disabilities.

The hard working team have almost completed the climate resilient seawall and have commenced market house foundations. It’s also resilient to cyclones and earthquakes and has 30,000 litres freshwater storage.

The local company behind the construction of the market is the Tropic Group Builders Ltd who are working hard to deliver this key project as quickly as possible, to Australia’s high-quality standard of construction.

Designed, built and delivered by Solomon Islanders for all, under the Solomon Islands-Australia Partnership. Construction is scheduled for completion in the New Year.
