51 Solomon Islands RSE Workers Head to New Zealand

This week, 51 workers under the Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) scheme were farewelled in Solomon Islands as they prepared to depart for New Zealand. The group attended a farewell and briefing session led by Daniel Thompson, New Zealand’s First Secretary, at the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS).

The workers, who will be employed in various sectors, were reminded of the importance of hard work, cultural exchange, and representing Solomon Islands abroad. The RSE scheme offers valuable opportunities for these workers to support their families and contribute to their communities back home.

RSE is when some employers hire people from overseas for seasonal work when there are not enough New Zealand workers. The employers are called recognised seasonal employers (RSEs). The people they hire are called RSE workers.
