HONIARA MAYOR URGES CALM AFTER ALLEGED ABDUCTION INCIDENT

Honiara City Council (HCC) Lord Mayor Eddie Siapu has called on all residents and neighboring communities to remain calm following a recent alleged abduction incident.

The mayor emphasized the importance omaintaining peace and urged citizens not to panic or spread fear, assuring local authorities actively responded to the situation.

Mayor Siapu confirmed that HCC Law Enforcement officers, in collaboration with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), are conducting operations to secure the city.

He noted that police presence will be increased in key areas to ensure the safety of residents and the visiting public.

Mayor Cr. Siapu says patrols and checkpoints will be extended to communities near the Honiara boundary as the authorities strive to maintain law and order.

“The HCC is mandated to look after the city, and the Police Force is doing everything possible to restore calm and order. I urge the public to trust the authorities and avoid any unnecessary alarm,” mayor Siapu said.

He further urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

The mayor reassured the public that the police are prioritizing the safety of the city and its residents.

As the investigation into the alleged kidnapping continues, Honiara leaders have stressed the importance of community cooperation in helping maintain peace in the city.
