The Director of the CEMA Cabinet Sub-Committee (CSC) Simon Chottu recently joined representatives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on a field visit to one of JICA’s supported projects at St. Martin Rural Training Center (RTC). The visit offered valuable insights into the project’s achievements, challenges, and the community’s resilience in overcoming obstacles.
“It’s invaluable to be out in the field, listening to the real struggles faced by communities and seeing firsthand how they navigate these challenges,” said the Director of the CEMA CSC Simon Chottu. “This experience provides a unique perspective on how we can tailor our frameworks to support similar development efforts in rural areas.”
The Director emphasized that the lessons learned during the visit would guide CEMA’s ongoing work to develop frameworks aimed at supporting rural communities. By understanding the needs on the ground, CEMA is better equipped to create strategies that will drive positive outcomes for local farmers and entrepreneurs.
This visit is part of CEMA’s commitment to fostering partnerships with international organizations to deliver impactful projects for Solomon Islanders and promote sustainable growth in the agriculture sector.
