Auki police have arrested two male suspects in their 20s for drinking beer in front of a shop in Auki town on November 8, 2024.
Police Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau said the arrest has been done during a police high visibility operation in Auki town as part of preparation for the festive season.
The two suspects were placed in police custody while their court documents have been prepared to appear before the Auki Magistrates Court on a later date.
“Please be reminded that consuming liquor in public places is an offence, or even in any moving vehicle,” says Mr. Mangau.
As the festive season approaches, police will be conducting high-visibility operations, and anyone seen breaching the law will be dealt with accordingly.
“I urge license premises or beer outlets to work closely with the police to stop people from consuming alcohol in front of their bottle shops and to stop drinking alcohol in and around public places,” Commissioner Mangau said.
The police chief said my good people and law-abiding citizens respect those who come to do their shopping in town.
Police and community must continue to work together for a safe living as we look forward to this upcoming festive season.
