A high-level delegation from the Solomon Islands, led by Hon Jimson Tanangada, Minister of Police, National Security, and Correctional Services, continued their official visit to Australia on November 27th. The delegation had a busy day, beginning with a visit to the prestigious Australian Defence Force Academy. There, they were able to view the state-of-the-art training and educational facilities, reflecting the strong defense cooperation between the two nations.
Following this, the delegation enjoyed lunch with a group of Solomon Islands students currently studying in Australia. These students are part of the Australia-Solomon Islands Defence Cooperation Program, which supports the development of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and broader government personnel through education and training opportunities.
To conclude the day’s events, the delegation attended the solemn Last Post Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial.
Joining them were key figures including John Muria Jr, the Solomon Islands Attorney General, Hon Clezy Rore, Minister for Justice and Legal Affairs, and Admiral David Johnston AC RAN, Chief of the Australian Defence Force. The ceremony was also attended by the President of the Czech Republic, highlighting the international significance of the event.
