Solomon Islands High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, His Excellency William Soaki once again welcomed the legendary Onetox band to the Solomon Islands High Commission for a meaningful exchange.
During the meeting last week, the High Commissioner expressed his appreciation to the Onetox band members for their significant contributions to elevating and promoting Solomon Islands music across the Pacific and beyond.
He acknowledged the band’s unique ability to capture fans through their music, reinforcing their role as cultural ambassadors for Solomon Islands.
“You have inspired pride among Solomon Islanders and earned admiration across the region. Continue to uphold the standards you’ve set as music and cultural ambassadors, and never forget to guide and nurture the next generation of musicians,” H.E. Soaki encouraged.
The band members, in turn, shared their musical journey, recounting memorable experiences and the impact their music has had on fans throughout the Pacific and Asia.
H.E. Soaki emphasized the importance of sharing their talents and experiences to inspire young and upcoming artists in the Solomon Islands.
Onetox’s visit to Papua New Guinea comes ahead of a highly anticipated one-off show organized by Makasi Sounds & Entertainment, set to take place on Saturday, 30 November 2024 at the Lamana Hotel in Port Moresby.
PNG is home to the band’s largest fan base in the Pacific, a testament to the cross-cultural connections forged through their music.
This meeting highlights the High Commission’s commitment to fostering cultural diplomacy and supporting Solomon Islands artists who are making waves on the global stage.
