PS Mesepitu: Passport Fee Unchanged at SBD1,000

The passport fee remains unchanged at $1,000, despite claims on social media suggesting it has risen to $3,000.

This confusion arose after the police clearance fee was increased from $90 to $300. In response, Riley Mesepitu, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Labour, and Immigration, clarified that the passport fee has not been altered.

Mesepitu emphasized that such a claim is false, stating that neither he nor the Minister mentioned any such increase during the PAC and Budget debates in Parliament.

He urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information, stressing that it is important to leave official announcements to the relevant authorities.
