The Republic of Korea is proposing a visa exemption agreement for diplomatic and official passport holders of both Korea and the Solomon Islands. This proposal was introduced when His Excellency Jong Ho CHOI, the Non-Resident Ambassador of Korea to the Solomon Islands, presented his credentials to Governor General His Excellency Rev David Tiva Kapu.
The Governor General acknowledged the support the Republic of Korea has provided to the Solomon Islands. Ambassador CHOI expressed his honor in representing Korea and emphasized the importance of strengthening the relationship between the two countries, which has been strong since diplomatic ties were established in 1978.

The Ambassador also proposed advancing a visa exemption agreement for diplomatic and official passport holders, which he believes will help enhance bilateral cooperation.
In response, the Solomon Islands government welcomed the proposal, recognizing its potential to increase people-to-people exchanges. Additionally, the government expressed interest in the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) setting up a permanent presence in the country, given Korea’s role as a key infrastructure development partner for the Solomon Islands.
