Mass Dog Eradication Operation in Honiara City: Register your dog now, $50 per dog annually

On February 1, 2025, the waste management and control division, HCC will conduct a mass dog eradication operation targeting stray dogs or any dogs that are untagged or unlicensed within the city boundaries. The operation aims to address the growing issue of stray animals and ensure public safety.

In preparation for this, pet owners are urged to register their dogs, with a fee of $50 per dog annually. This registration will help prevent dogs from being caught up in the eradication process.

There will be a walk-in registration where officers will conduct inspections across different areas of the city, distributing registration forms and identifying unlicensed or stray dogs.

Under the Dog Ordinance in the Honiara City Council, the city holds the right to euthanize any dogs that are found unlicensed. Pet owners are encouraged to comply with the registration process to avoid their pets being affected by this operation.
