COCOA TRAINING FOR TENAGHAU ENDS SUCESSFULLY

A Two-Day Cocoa Training was successfully organized for the Tenagahu Community in Northeast Guadalcanal, Guadalcanal Province. The training was conducted by the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) through its Soul Cocoa Plus Livelihood Project (SCPL).

ADRA Australia, through SCPL, funded the training, which took place at Tenagahu Community on Wednesday, February 5, and Thursday, February 6, 2024. A total of 83 existing and newly interested cocoa farmers from Tenagahu and surrounding communities responded to the invitation and attended the training.

The project hired private cocoa consultant Robert Waisu to facilitate the training. As part of its support for farmers, ADRA also distributed cocoa polybags.

The training covered key aspects of cocoa farming, including: Cocoa pruning and grafting techniques, Site and seed selection, Identification of high-quality cocoa seedlings, Baseline and lining methods, Integrated Pest and Disease Management (IPDM) demonstrations, Nursery establishment and The history of cocoa and cocoa production statistics in the Solomon Islands.

However, an Additional cocoa training sessions for other communities will be organized in the coming weeks.
