The Reconstruction work for Atoifi Dental Clinic at Atoifi Adventist Hospital (AAH) in East Kwaio, Malaita Province, has officially commenced.
Building materials for the project arrived safely in Atoifi on Sunday, February 2, 2025. The supplies, stored inside a 40-foot container, were transported by barge from Honiara. These materials marked the final logistical step before construction could begin.

The container includes all necessary building supplies, along with electrical and plumbing components, dental chairs, and other essential dental equipment.
Dr. Genna Levitch, Project Manager and donor for the project, confirmed that construction work has officially began on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

He stated that a team of builders from Australia, alongside local workers, is currently undertaking the construction work.
According to Dr. Levitch, the building frame was erected on Sunday, February 23, and full completion of the framework is expected in the coming days.
“I can confirm that work is progressing well, and by March 28, 2025, the dental clinic should be completed and officially handed over to Atoifi Hospital,” Dr. Levitch said.

The Dental Clinic will feature two dental chairs, a reception area, a staff room, a lab, and a sterilising room. It will be operated by Atoifi Hospital and will serve residents of the surrounding regions in East Kwaio and other parts of Malaita region.

A dentist has been appointed by the Ministry of Health and Medical Service, Max Asugeni, who is an Atoifi local.
He has already started doing basic dental work for the community. The clinical work he can do should expand as the facility becomes operational.
This dental clinic project was supported by ADRA.
