Exercise Coastwatchers 25-1: Enhancing Border Surveillance Skills for RSIPF Officers

Exercise Coastwatchers 25-1 is in full swing this week, focusing on Border Surveillance training for officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF). The course, delivered by Defence Australia, is designed to enhance the fieldcraft and surveillance capabilities of officers from the Police Response and Fire Departments.

As part of the course, participants took part in a field trip to the Guadalcanal American Memorial. This allowed them to practice their newly acquired skills, such as judging distances and using optics to survey the strategic Iron Bottom Sound area.

This training marks the tenth Exercise Coastwatchers event delivered under the Defence Cooperation Program in the past three years. With 63 courses completed and over 935 RSIPF officers trained, the program continues to play a key role in strengthening border security and surveillance efforts in the Solomon Islands.
