On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) officially launched a new football academy which aims at identifying and nurturing young talents from across the country. The goal is to develop future national team players and build stronger foundation for football in the Solomon Islands.
Joining the academy as an assistant coach is Mr. Kanto Yamashita, a JICA volunteer from Japan. He is working closely with local coaches, international trainers, and the academyβs head coach, Mr. Henry Faβarodo Jr., to support the development of young players.
The launching event was attended by Japanese Ambassador His Excellency Keiichi Higuchi and JICA Resident Representative Mr. Takeshi Watanabe, along with representatives from supporting development partners. This gathering marked a significant step forward for youth football in the region.
The JICA volunteer contributes to strengthening the academy by developing training programs and providing opportunities for its young players.
