Piling Complete at BIRA Bridge

Exciting progress is underway in West Kwaio, Malaita Province, as piling works for the BIRA Bridge have officially been completed. This marks a major milestone for the project, setting the stage for the next crucial phase,  construction of the pile caps, which will connect the foundation piles and provide the base for the bridge superstructure.

The BIRA Bridge project is part of the broader Solomon Islands Roads and Aviation Project (SIRAP), led by the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) and constructed by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC). SIRAP aims to enhance transport connectivity and build more resilient infrastructure across the Solomon Islands.

With piling now completed, the team is one step closer to delivering a safer and more reliable crossing for local communities and strengthening economic opportunities and regional connectivity.

Stay tuned as the project moves forward, transforming infrastructure and improving lives across Malaita and beyond.
