The long-awaited reunion of the Siwainao sisters with their biological father, Dr. Jack Siwainao, since 2019, is drawing closer, following a significant update delivered in the Solomon Islands Parliament. The Prime Minister confirmed that the Papua New Guinea (PNG) Immigration and Citizenship Authority has confirmed that the girls are in good health and receiving proper care in Port Moresby.
This positive development comes after years of legal and emotional challenges. In 2024, the sisters’ stepfather launched a custody battle in PNG’s family court in an attempt to retain guardianship. However, the court ultimately dismissed the case, paving the way for a new decision focused on the best interests of the children.
Authorities have now agreed that the sisters will be released into the care of their maternal aunt, the sister of their late mother. This marks a turning point, offering the girls a chance to regain a sense of normalcy, including returning to school and reconnecting with loved ones.
