The Honiara City Councillor for Panatina Ward 12, Cr. Lydia Yeo has extended her heartfelt congratulations to the 160 women representing communities in East Honiara who attended the recent Financial Planning Workshop held from May 15 to 16, 2025.

The workshop took place at the New Hope Academy School in the Kukum, Bahai area, and it aimed to empower women with vital financial skills to improve their economic well-being and community development.
The two-day workshop was designed to equip participants with practical knowledge in budgeting, saving, investment, and financial management. It sought to strengthen women’s capacity to make informed financial decisions, thereby fostering greater economic independence and resilience within their communities, said Cr Yeo.

Cr. Lydia Yeo expressed her pride in the women’s willingness to learn and their commitment to enhancing their financial literacy.

“This workshop is a vital step toward empowering women to take control of their financial futures,” Cr. Yeo stated.
“Their participation demonstrates a strong desire to improve their personal and community livelihoods, and I commend each woman for their dedication and courage to learn new skills.”

The event was organized with the support of Little Vine Foundation, whose Coordinator, Mrs. Selina Bera, emphasized the importance of women’s participation in economic development.
“This is the first time for East Honiara local women to attend such financial training, and it is a blessing for all of us,” Mrs. Bera expressed.

Cr. Lydia Yeo encourages more women to engage in similar initiatives to build a more inclusive and prosperous East Honiara.
