Lata, Temotu Province – A seven-member delegation from the Public Engagement Unit of Parliament arrived in Lata on Saturday, 17th May 2025, to launch a three-day workshop introducing a new Parliamentary Resource Book aimed at enhancing civic education.
The team, which includes representatives from the Parliamentary Civic Education Unit, Parliamentary Media Unit, and Directors from the Committee Secretariat, is joined by Mr. Wilson Orisi, Director of Parliamentary Information Services, Mr. Boniface Supa, and UNDP Project Analyst, Mr. Gregory Fineanganofo. The workshop will run from 19th to 21st May at the Luita Resort.

During a courtesy visit to the Education Office in Lata, the team was welcomed by Chief Education Officer Mr. Allan Steward Piaitir, who commended the initiative and highlighted the importance of strengthening citizen awareness and understanding of parliamentary roles and legislative processes.

Seventeen teachers from across Temotu Province are expected to participate in the workshop, arriving from various islands today. The event aims to equip educators with tools to better teach students about Parliament and civic responsibilities.
