The Guadalcanal Provincial Health Authority has announced the indefinite closure of Marara Area Health Centre, effective Monday, 26 May 2025. This decision comes in response to unresolved issues requiring careful negotiation with relevant parties. The Health Authority acknowledges the inconvenience caused and assures the public that efforts are underway to restore services as quickly as possible.
To ensure continued healthcare access for residents of Northwest and West Guadalcanal, a Business Continuity Plan has been activated. From Monday, 26 May, doctorโs clinics and patient reviews will take place at the Guadalcanal Provincial Government Hospital Committee Meeting Room, located in the LKK Building opposite Ritaleven. These clinics will be available every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Child welfare and postnatal services will be provided at both Tamboko and Vura Clinics on Tuesday, 27 May. These clinics will also offer outpatient services on Wednesday and antenatal services on Thursday. Residents are encouraged to visit the clinic closest to them.
Preparations for a new temporary health site at Mamara Metropolis, near the western end of Poha Bridge, will begin on Friday, 30 May. The community will be updated on the reopening of services at this location once preparations are finalized.
For further information or clarification, community members are encouraged to contact the Guadalcanal Provincial Health Office. The Health Authority extends its gratitude for the public’s understanding and cooperation during this transitional period.
