SI welcome 76 new Correctional Officers at Titus Rore Recruit 01/2025 Passing Out Parade

The Honourable Minister of Police, National Security and Correctional Services today presided over the official Passing Out Parade for the Titus Rore Recruit 01/2025, marking a significant milestone for the Correctional Services of Solomon Islands (CSSI) and the nation’s justice system.

A total of 76 new officers — 21 women and 55 men representing all nine provinces — have successfully completed their rigorous training and are now ready to serve in correctional institutions across the country.

The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including Commissioner of Correctional Services Solomon Islands, Mr. Mactus Forau; Patron of the Titus Rore Recruits, Pastor Titus Rore; Permanent Secretary Ms. Karen Galokale; senior government officials; representatives from the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, the China Police Liaison Team, the Australian High Commission, and the Australia Solomon Islands Partnership for Justice; as well as proud family members and friends.

In his keynote address, the Minister praised the leadership of Commissioner Forau and the CSSI Executive for their unwavering commitment to shaping the next generation of correctional officers. He also expressed gratitude to the families of the recruits and acknowledged the vital support of development and donor partners, particularly the Australian Government, in strengthening training, infrastructure, and institutional capacity.

The Minister congratulated the graduating recruits, reminding them of the vital role they now play as protectors of order, facilitators of rehabilitation, and symbols of discipline and honour. He urged them to uphold integrity, communicate effectively, prioritise wellbeing, use force only as a last resort, work as a team, support inmate rehabilitation, champion diversity, and commit to lifelong learning.

“As your Minister, I assure you of our continued support for CSSI leadership to improve infrastructure, training, and officer welfare,” he stated. “We are committed to strengthening our correctional system and empowering our officers to succeed.”

Special recognition was given to Pastor Titus Rore, the namesake and Patron of the recruit class, for his leadership and contributions to rehabilitation programs.

The Minister concluded by encouraging the new officers to wear their uniforms with pride and humility, and to let their service be defined by discipline, compassion, and justice.
