Honiara, June 2025 – Selwyn College and White River Community High School have emerged as winners of the 2025 Solomon Ports 69th Anniversary Speech Contest, held as part of the port authority’s annual celebrations.
Stella Maebiru of Selwyn College took top honors in the Senior Category with her powerful presentation on “Solomon Ports at 69: Navigating a Legacy of Growth and National Pride.” In the Junior Category, Hetina Pulu of White River Community High School impressed judges with her inspiring speech titled “Port of the People: How Solomon Ports Connects, Supports, and Empowers Our Nation.”
The event featured 18 students from 10 schools across Honiara, offering a platform for young voices to reflect on the history, progress, and future of Solomon Ports. The contest aimed to deepen youth understanding of the port’s crucial role in national development.
Solomon Ports thanked all participating schools for their enthusiastic involvement and support in making the anniversary celebration a success.
