Premier of Central Province, Michael Salini, has been removed from office following a successful Motion of No Confidence (MONC) passed this morning in the Provincial Assembly. The motion, led by Hon. Kenneth Sagupari, Provincial Member for Ward Two, Central West Gella, was supported by a vote of 8 to 5.
The Speaker of the Central Islands Provincial (CIP) Assembly, Hon. Francis Moah, confirmed the outcome of the vote, which marks the end of Saliniโs leadership. According to Sagupari, the victory was a result of unity among the eight non-executive members who stood together to push through the motion.
Saliniโs position had become increasingly fragile after two ministers defected from his administration last week, leaving him without a majority and weakening his hold on government.
The Assembly is expected to begin discussions soon on appointing a new Premier to lead the province.
