Dr. Shane Tutua, a co-owner of SolAgro, is visiting Japan this week, showcasing Solomon Islands ngali nut products at an international food expo, FoodEx 2025, in Tokyo, Japan.

FoodEx is an international Food & Beverage business platform representing Asia and the Pacific. Over the past half-century, FoodEx has facilitated business creation through the unparalleled matching of over 80,000 exhibitors with more than 4,000,000 buyers. This year, with more than 3,000 global brands from over 70 countries, the event is held from 11th to 14th March 2025 in Tokyo Big Sight, Japan, marking the 50th anniversary.

At the FoodEx, SolAgro is introducing the unique Solomon Islands ngali nut products and herbal teas to potential buyers from Japan. The ngali nut, a hidden gem of Solomon Islands, is being promoted as a healthy food product, with its benefits including high protein content, healthy fats (beneficial for heart health), and anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. With the growing health-conscious trend in Japan, there is a significant market potential for our ngali nut products.
SolAgro’s participation at the FoodEx is supported by the Pacific Islands Center (PIC) in Japan, which set up a booth at the event venue for Pacific Islands businesses from Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Samoa, Cook Islands and Fiji, with one business each representing their countries. With the assistance of JICA officers and through collaboration with Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI), SolAgro was selected to participate in this event, representing Solomon Islands.

To support SolAgro in promoting Solomon Islands products at the FoodEx, the support group in Honiara, JICA volunteers who had spent some time in Solomon Islands and returned to Japan, and a Solomon Islander residing in Japan have provided invaluable support in preparing for and during the Expo on-site. The support group has been instrumental in coordinating with PIC, designing and printing brochures in Japanese, facilitating with volunteers setting up the booth, attending to visitors, providing interpretations and introducing SolAgro’s sample products.
The positive feedback from the visitors and the promising meetings with potential buyers testify to the quality and appeal of SolAgro’s products.
