Officers from the Correctional Service Solomon Islands (CSSI) are recently completed a weeklong intensive training on ‘Knowing your public service and Code of Conduct’ with the Ministry of Public Service and the staff of the Institution of Public Administration and Management (IPAM).
Speaking during the closing ceremony Director of the Institution of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) Mr. Solomon Manea said, this training is a basic induction, and it should give you insights into various roles and functions of government institutions and agencies. It is envisaged that this training would complement your technical and professional knowledge and skills that you have to implement your roles and responsibilities in CSSI.
Mr. Manea told the participants do utilize the knowledge and network you gain, to improve your work performance and behaviour towards work. As public officers we are expected to provide our services with quality.
He acknowledges the CSSI management and leadership for trusting IPAM to complement the good works you already done in terms of capacity building and role-based trainings.
Director Correctional Service Training Academy, Mr. Joseph Watawa said, this training is totally reviewed and advance than the past IPAM training on Knowing your public service and Code of Conduct’ and it’s also fitting the current operation in the Public Service now a days.
He said, CSSI are committed with its organisation corporative plan in Correctional Service of Solomon Islands Strategic Plan 2023 – 2026 Strategic Direction – Core Function in work force resources and development stated in 2.1 Human Resource and 2.2 Staff training and development
Mr. Watawa urged officers to take this training seriously, so, that this course helps them to see and understand the service they deliver to the people of Solomon Islands and adhere to a code of ethics and professional conduct, which are set of standards pertaining to morals and the effective discharge of duties.
Learning and Development Coordinator Staff Sergeant Stephen Sero thanked IPAM and the Ministry of Public Service for the opportunity to invest in CSSI’s human resource capacity development.
