Honiara, Solomon Islands — Honiara will come alive at dawn on Monday, 7 July, as the country unites to celebrate its 47th Independence Anniversary with a massive float parade throughout the main street of Honiara.
The National Independence Organising Committee is collaborating with Government Ministries, Corporate Companies, Schools, and Civil Society Organisations to join the float parade.
The first colorful float will process from Central Honiara to the National Stadium, while the second float will process from the Honiara International Airport area to the National Stadium early on Monday morning.
The top three floats will be receiving Prizes as a token of appreciation for brightening up the Independence Anniversary celebrations.
Staged on the Theme “Unity and Stability for Transformation and Prosperity, this year’s celebration on 7th July is preceded by the National Trade Show and the Solomon Islands Secondary Games in Honiara, which started earlier in the week.
The Governor General, Sir David Tiva Kapu, and Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele are scheduled to officiate at the main Official Independence Parade at the National Stadium on Monday, 7th July.
Solomon Islands attained Political Independence from Great Britain on 7th July 1978.
