Honiara, Solomon Islands — A group of bright and enthusiastic youth from Sinarangu and Olomburi in East Kwaio Constituency had a once in a lifetime experience this week as they visited the National Parliament of Solomon Islands for the first time.
For many of the students, it was not only their first time in Honiara but also their first opportunity to witness the heart of the country’s democratic process up close. Representing five schools across the Sinarangu and Olomburi Districts, the students were welcomed warmly by Parliament staff who commended their eagerness to learn about national governance and how Parliament functions.
East Kwaio Constituency comprises three districts: Uru, Sinarangu, and Olomburi. Uru District, known for its extended pronunciation “Uuuuuru” by locals to preserve its cultural identity, borders East Malaita, while Olomburi marks the boundary with East Are’are.
The National Parliament Office expressed appreciation for the visit and highlighted the importance of engaging young Solomon Islanders in understanding their country’s democratic institutions.
The SINOLO youth visit stands as a proud moment for East Kwaio and a meaningful step in nurturing future leaders through civic education and exposure.
