Happy 47th Independence Anniversary Solomon Islands!
We would like to take this time to congratulate the National Government, Provincial Governments, Private Sector, Development Partners, Non-Governmental Organisations, Churches, Communities and every citizen for their efforts towards advancing national sustainable development in our beloved country Solomon Islands.
Independence day is a time to honour the courage and vision of our founding leaders and to acknowledge the collective efforts of our people in building a peaceful and sovereign Solomon Islands. Their legacy is our shared responsibility-to work together in shaping a nation that is united, resilient, and forward-looking.
As the Ministry responsible for National Planning for sustainable development, MNPDC continues to oversight and drive the implementation of the National Development Strategy (NDS 2016-2035), the blueprint for sustainable development that provides the roadmap for our concerted efforts for development.
Our collaborative efforts nationally, and with development partners have contributed to improving the social and economic livelihoods of Solomon Islanders as envisaged in the vision of the NDS, “Improving the Social and Economic Livelihoods of all Solomon Islanders”. Despite challenges, we have made progress. This is evidenced by the gains in the education and health sector; justice; infrastructure; good governance, transparency and accountability and in addressing priority issues such as combating and responding to the negative impacts of climate change and natural disasters and protecting our pristine natural environment.
As we reflect on our history and celebrate our achievements so far, whilst recognising the challenges we face and pivoting for far greater advances. We also remember our past leaders who took our country to independence and their visions for peace, progress and prosperity for all Solomon Islanders.
Let us continue to work together for greater progress in the years to come.
