CSSI Women’s Network conduct its first meeting

Correctional Services Solomon Islands (CSSI) Women’s Network has successfully conducted its first ever meetings after the election of the new committee members formally announced by the office of the Commissioner recently.

The new elected Chairlady Inspector Martha Alabae said on behalf of my new committee, deeply honoured, and humbled to accept our new roles and responsibilities, for our women’s network group.

“These positions are not just titles but are commitments to each and every one of you women who are employed as correctional officers, and to the future generations of women who will join us in this journey”. Says Chairlady Alabae

Mrs Alabae revealed in her statement that our journey in the CSSI Women’s network over the years have gained a momentum in terms of education, professional development, and promotions, being part of decision making, recruitment, supporting each other in little ways, and taking part in the broader community engagements.

She said despite difficulties that as individuals, organization and a country have faced since the period of the COVID pandemic, it really affected our normal women’s network ongoing programs and activities. However, we made progress despite the challenges, and I would like to commend all for your contributions in one way or another

Today, as we embark on this new chapter for our women’s network, I want to emphasize again, on the importance of our shared goals and the new committee will ensure that we continue to create opportunities for growth, foster mentorship and advocate for women’s issues and best approaches and solutions in all aspects of our lives for the better.

“Our network is a platform where voices are heard, ideas are natured, and dreams are realized”. Mrs. Alabae adds

Together we have built a network that champions empowerment, leadership, and collaboration among women from diverse backgrounds, different levels in the workplace, and we will continue to grow and achieve our goals.

In the next two years, my committee will continue to focus on: Empowerment through Education and social interactions, Building Strong Networks and support for one another and Advocacy for Change.

I hope and believe that through our passion, commitment, and oneness with one another and with God, whatever we plan, we will achieve. And my committee is looking forward to working together and earning the support from the Office of the Commissioner and CSSI Senior Executive team in achieving the CSSI Women’s network action plans that will be presented upon completion.

We, the new committee is very excited, yet challenged about what lies ahead for us, and we are confident that together, and I say again TOGETHER we can achieve remarkable things. Therefore, let us embrace this opportunity to uplift one another and create lasting change within our various roles and responsibilities within the organization and building a positive life beyond.
