The Leader of Opposition, Hon. Matthew Cooper Wale, has conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to the Solomon Islands Women’s National Football Team for their outstanding victory in the OFC Women’s Regional Football Championship held in Suva, Fiji, over the weekend.
Hon. Wale described the team’s triumph as a moment of immense national pride and a testament to the spirit, resilience, and talent of Solomon Islands women in sport.
“On behalf of the Opposition and the people of Solomon Islands, I congratulate our Women’s National Football Team on this historic achievement. You have not only brought glory to our nation but have also inspired hope, unity and pride across all our islands,” Hon. Wale stated.
He commended the players for their discipline, teamwork, and determination throughout the tournament, and praised the coaching staff, team management and the Solomon Islands Football Federation for their continued efforts to develop and promote women’s football in the country.

“This is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when we invest in our women and girls. Our female athletes have proven that they can compete and succeed on the regional stage, and they deserve our full recognition and support,” the Opposition Leader said.
Hon. Wale added that this victory would inspire a new generation of girls to pursue football and other sports, and called on all stakeholders, including the Government, to continue supporting women’s sport through stronger funding and inclusive policies.
“You have made us all proud. Tagio tumas and may God continue to bless our team and our beloved Solomon Islands,” he concluded.
