Honiara, Solomon Islands – Smart Technology, a locally owned business in Honiara, is calling on the public to help protect the environment by properly disposing of old mobile phones, laptops, and other electronic devices.
The company is urging residents not to dump e-waste at the Ranadi dumpsite, where harmful materials such as lithium batteries can leak into the soil and water, posing serious environmental and health risks.
Instead, Smart Technology has set up two convenient drop-off points for the safe collection and recycling of electronic waste:
• Solomon Motors, White River
• NPF Plaza, Room 28, Point Cruz
“These gadgets may be out of use, but the way we dispose of them matters,” wrote on a post by Smart Technology. “Let’s work together to promote a cleaner, greener Solomon Islands by recycling e-waste responsibly.”
The initiative aims to raise awareness about the dangers of improper disposal and encourages the community to take small steps that contribute to long-term sustainability.
