MID’s Deputy Secretary Corporate Andrew Houlia and Director of Transport Infrastructure Management Services Division Ishmael Alulu, who attended the 4th Singapore-Pacific Islands Transport Ministers Forum 2025 in Singapore last week.

Solomon Islands Government, through the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID), recently attended the 4th Singapore-Pacific Islands Transport Ministers Forum 2025 for three days, from 13th to 15th July, at Raffles City Convention Centre, Singapore.

The theme for the forum was “Navigational Global Transport in a Changing World: Opportunities and Partnerships.” It gathered transport ministers and stakeholders from the Pacific Islands and the Singapore government to discuss regional transportation priorities, infrastructure development, and capacity enhancement.

Representing the MID Minister Hon. Ricky Fuoโ€™o were Deputy Secretary Corporate Andrew Houlia and Director of Transport Infrastructure Management Services Division Ishmael Alulu.

During the forumโ€™s dialogue sessions, both officials highlighted the countryโ€™s priority focusing on the transport sectorโ€™s connectivity and capacity building.

Pacific Island representatives at the forum under the theme “Navigational Global Transport in a Changing World: Opportunities and Partnerships.”

Mr. Houlia said their discussions with counterparts focus on the Solomon Islands governmentโ€™ ongoing efforts and future priorities in transport infrastructure, capturing the rehabilitation and maintenance of existing road networks, construction and upgrading of wharves and airports, the need to strengthen public-private partnerships, quality assurance, embracing technology, and more capacity-building programs.

โ€œOur engagement in this forum underscores the governmentโ€™s commitment to regional cooperation and development in transport infrastructure, aiming to improve connectivity and economic growth across the islands and Asian region.โ€

โ€œWe appreciate being part of this forum to exchange ideas, collaborate on best practices, and explore solutions and how best to connect with Singapore being a business hub and the region to boost trade and economic growth,” Mr. Houlia said.
