A Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officer, Senior Sergeant Raymond Togapada, made history as the first RSIPF officer to graduate from the prestigious Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, in the United States of America (USA).
Senior Sergeant Togapada was one of over 200 law enforcement officers who attended and completed the 10-week training program at the FBI National Academy on 13th March.
This group, where Senior Sergeant Togapada was part of, marks the completion of the FBI National Academy’s 293rd session.

This group comprises of men and women from 48 states, the District of Columbia, 24 countries, 11 military organizations and four federal civilian organizations.
The FBI National Academy is known for its academic excellence internationally.
The Academy offers advanced communication, leadership and fitness training and is dedicated to improving law enforcement standards. The Academy has long been a benchmark for professional continuing education.
Participants are drawn from every state in the union, from U.S.A territories, and from over 150 partner nations. Police officers who attend the Academy are taught during the training program to return to their communities better prepared to meet criminal challenges.
The overall goal of the FBI National Academy is to support, promote and enhance the personal and professional development of law enforcement leaders by preparing them for complex, dynamic and contemporary challenges through innovative techniques, facilitating excellence in education and research and forging partnerships throughout the world.
The Academy was created in 1935 with 23 students in the first class. It has grown over the years. The FBI National Academy is one of the premier law enforcement academies in the world.
