The Minister for Police, National Security and Correctional Services (MPNSCS) has hailed the recently launched National Security Strategy (NSS) 2025 as a demonstration of the Government’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding the sovereignty of Solomon Islands and the safety of its people.
Speaking at the launch in Honiara Friday last week, Hon. Minster Jimson Tanagada said the launch is a defining moment in our nation’s pursuit of a secure, resilient, and prosperous future.
He said the National Security Strategy 2025 is a transformative framework that will guide our collective efforts to safeguard the sovereignty and security of Solomon Islands.
Launched on the theme “United for Security: A Collective Vision for a Resilient & Prosperous Solomon Islands” the NSS 2025 embodies the core principle of the country’s shared duty to protect the nation, defend its citizens, and ensure a thriving future for all Solomon Islanders.
“This is not merely a document; it is a resolute declaration of our unwavering commitment to national sovereignty and the safety of our people,”.

Hon. Tanagada underscores that national security is a shared responsibility that demands the active participation and cooperation of every sector of society.
“Our security and resilience are interconnected with the well-being of our citizens, the integrity of our institutions, and the unity of our communities,” he said.
The successful launch of the National Security Strategy 2025 was a testament to the collaborative effort by many individuals and organizations including the Ministry of Police, National Security, and Correctional Services with stakeholders -including government ministries, security agencies, civil societies, international partners and consultant, Mr. Peter Forau-whose tireless efforts and expertise have shaped the comprehensive strategy.
The National Security Strategy 2025 embodies a unified and proactive vision aimed at confronting challenges such as climate change, transnational crime, and cyber threats, while safeguarding economic and political stability. This strategy enhances existing efforts, fostering greater coordination and collaboration across all sectors to strengthen the nation’s resilience.
The NSS 2025 also acknowledged the pressing need to strengthen the capacity and capability of our Law Enforcement Agencies, the National Security Division, the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), and the Correctional Services of Solomon Islands (CSSI).
These institutions are the backbone of the country’s national security framework, and their empowerment is essential for effective management and coordination in addressing the complex challenges faced.
The MNSPCS is resolutely committed to prioritizing national security initiatives with the NSS 2025 serving as a transformative blueprint to ensure these key institutions are well-structured, adequately resourced, and equipped to confront emerging threats.
Hon. Tanagada said through collaboration with stakeholders—both domestic and international the Government will foster a culture of trust, unity, and cooperation to build a stronger, safer, and more resilient Solomon Islands, securing a prosperous future for generations to come.
