Scam Alert: Fake SBD900 Grant Circulating Online

Honiara, Solomon Islands – 31 August 2025 – The Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (OPMC) is warning the public about a fraudulent online scam falsely claiming to offer a government grant titled the “Jeremiah Manele SBD900 Development.”

The scam, which is spreading on social media, uses the name and image of Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele in an attempt to mislead citizens into believing they can receive SBD900 by clicking on a suspicious link. The Prime Minister has confirmed that no such grant exists.

According to the OPMC, the only legitimate government financial support available to citizens is through the Constituency Development Funds (CDF). Any other program claiming to offer cash prizes or grants in the Prime Minister’s name is completely fake.

Citizens are urged to:

• Be cautious of online messages offering money or grants.

• Avoid clicking unknown links or sharing personal and banking information.

Verify information through official sources such as:

[www.solomons.gov.sb](http://www.solomons.gov.sb) or the Prime Minister’s official Facebook page.

The government emphasizes that the best defense against online scams is public awareness and responsible online behavior. Stay informed, stay alert, and protect yourself and your community.
